“la ligne du maître” a master’s line

The project is an homage to Hector Guimard (1867-1942) Parisian artist and architect. His artworks are living till this days and are still in use, for example the iconic metropolitan gates spread around Paris.

I was honoured to take part in an exhibition made in partnership with École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and Musée d'Orsay Paris.

The brief for this project was started with a curated guide tour to explore museum’s collection of L'Art Nouveau (end of XIX, beginning of XX century) with the special emphasis on Guimard’s works.

During my design process I decided to study Hector’s way of placing lines and combine it with silhouette volume. I wanted to compose the line over the dress, which would be also exposed to perspective play – illusion.

The hand stitch gown is made of silk brocade and cream lamb leather.
